
A Yuzu and Pear reserve has taken the main title at the World Marmalade awards.
Now in its twentieth year, the festival in Dalemain, near Penrith in Cumbria, attracts thousands of tickets around the world.
Hitomi Wakamura, from Tokyo, said it was a “great honor” to be chosen as winner in the home category.
The Marmalade champion will now go on sale in Fortnum & Mason in London, with a percentage of the proededs that go to the hospice of charity at home.
Beatrice Hasell-Mcosh, director of Awards, said: ‘It is a brilliant victory for a competitor abroad in this competition that defends the ideal in the creation of British standard jams.
“Yuzu has become increasingly popular in the last decade with many entries using this beautiful citrus scented in his recipes.
“It is a well -deserved victory for Hitomi Wakamura and special that comes when we marked our year of the twentieth anniversary and that he could travel from Japan to be with us and break his prize in person.”
Hitomi Wakamura said: “It is a great honor that my Yuzu and Pear jam has been chosen in homemade competition this year.
“I would like to thank everyone involved for giving me this opportunity.”

The 3,200 tickets this year from Hawaii, New Zealand, South Korea, Botswana and Georgia, along with many of the United Kingdom.
In addition to citrus -based offers, some contained more unusual ingredients such as caterpillars, capers and Irn Bru.
