Greenwich’s council has approved a planning application to have a sixth occupant and a rear extension added to 17 Mordown, a house at the end of the terma in a residential street between Woolwich Common and Shrewbury Park-Whichhiched 50 objections of those of the.
The objectors touch with the potential precedent that approval could mean for the creation of more HMO in the area, as well as the possible problems of traffic, the noise noise and the “embedded possibility of disputes between waste” that an influx of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six of six.
The plans to change the use of the single -family house in a five -people HMO were approved last December.
The request to add a sixth was before the local planning meeting of the Greenwich Council on April 22, where it was approved in three votes to one.
Several murderers residents opposed the plans attended the meeting to share their views.
Michael O’Sullivan said: “No one in our section of the HMO road. I have spoken with some of the people who are very close to the HMO and tell you that there will be mental health problems.
“People are very stressed and fear what comes in the future for them and I think that should be consulted.”
Another resident and objector of Mordown, Helen Palmer, wanted the council to recognize his fear that the occupation of six could double to 12 at any time if friends or partners of tensioners wanted to stay.
She said: “As is, Moordown’s demographic group consists largely in families, or with young children, and/or elderly residents. There is a really strong feeling of community cohesion, especially from Covid.
“The applicant has suggested in his proposal that a multi -occupation house is not different from a family residence.
“We know that this is not true and if you have any doubt, you just have to wonder what each social group will do at 10 pm in an equal refrigerator.
“Having raised a young family, I can tell you that the children will be asleep and I will be on my computer trying to catch up with the work that I do not have time to do while they are awake.
“As a single adult worked all week, this would have my time for socialization, drink, play music, go to pub, club, event and return in the early hours of the morning.
“Both groups have the right to their lifestyle choices, but they are not compatible, and if they put them below, literally bringing one in you it will possibly begin to expel the other.
“I know we face a housing crisis, but changing small family houses in narrower units is not the way to solve it.”
Despite these objections, Greenwich’s planning officers exceeded that the application in 17 Moordown is approved for several reasons, including that the HMO would contribute to the needs of local housing and that “it would not do it to the Eagity and would impact the occupants.”
CLLR ASli Mohammed voted in favor of the approach when he said that “the application meets all relevant planning criteria and regulations.”
However, she criticized the applicant and those in her name, since she believed that they had not done enough to consult with the residents of murderers.
CLLR Mohammed also lamented the loss of family homes in southern London county at the planning meeting.
She said: “We are losing family houses that we really cannot afford to lose. We have to balance family houses against the HMO; how many family are losing, how many we are creating. We have to balance that and that is something for the counter.”
CLLR Pat Greenwell voted against the application approach that resulted in a round of applause from the public gallery.
She said: “The people who are here tonight, the objectors, have come and say their piece. It was full of emotion and emotion for me is not only emotion but the living conditions of people and how they feel is part of their comfort.
“It’s not just a building. People are going to destroy their comfort due to this HMO.
“Your lives destroyed, that’s their amenity. I’m sorry, but I won’t support this application. I just can’t.”
