The Unite Union agreed to attend mediation conversations with the ACAS conciliation service next week to try to solve the BIN strike in progress in Birmingham.
He said that conversations with the City Council were separated after 45 minutes on Wednesday without any progress.
The total strike of Unite members about the plans to degrade rejection workers, who could lose up to £ 6,000 a year, began on March 11.
The strike, now in its seventh week, led to an important incident to be declared last month in the midst of concerns for public health and the environment.
