The anonymous racing pilot of Top Gear, the Stig, has broken a 20 -year record for the fastest turn around the test track of the BBC motor program in Surrey.
The Stig completed the figure of 1.75 miles (2.8 km) of eight circuits in the Dunsfold airfield in 55.9 seconds in a VP1 VP1 electric track car of McMurtry Speirling, exceeding the previous record in 3.1 seconds.
The new return time broke the 2004 record of 59 seconds in a Formula One car of Renault R24, also established by the Stig, who has been portrayed by several drivers.
Jack Rix, Top Gear editor, said: “Being there to witness a 20 -year lap record that is destroyed, we thought it was untouchable was an incredible moment.”
He added: “Is it a record that could never be broken, unless some F1 team feels brave?”
The return album is part of the new laps of the Top Gear YouTube series of BBC Studios, where the unknown corridor tries to break LAP records on the top gear test track in some of the fastest and most rare cars in the world.
Thomas Yates, co -founder and managing director of McMurtry Automotive, added: “Achieving the fastest turn in this legendary circuit is an immense achievement.”
