The birth, in Birth Street between Haggerston and Angel, has been nominated in the Great London region of the National Pub & Bar Awards 2025.
Cop-Copropiad by Adam Symonds, former manager of The Bull & Last in Highgate Road, and Rob Tecwyn, former chief of cooking of Dabbous, the couple was named the new highest entry on the list of the 50 main gastrope when opening his Dowen in 2023.
The awards will be held in June, with Red Lion & Sun in Highgate, that the great British pub of the year of John Smith in 2016 and 2018 and is sixth in the list of the 50 main gastropubs, among the nominees.
Adam said: “We are very, very happy for that! I certainly did not see him coming and could not be more proud of the whole team for working so hard to obtain the nomination.
“We know Heath in Red Lion and Sun and some others, such as Shibden Millos Mill in Halifax, so I’m sure the awards will be very fun.”

The duo, which while working at the Bull & Last, has just opened its second exit, the Kerfield Arms, in Camberwell, assuming the old corrupt well site.
This is the first time they have a leg nominated for this award, and Adam expects birth to stand out.
He added: “I am not sure that it is a case of being better than anyone, but we certainly sacrifice something unique in the pubic sphere.
“Our offer is focused on food and the menu is small and full of the type of things we like to eat, instead of Pub Classic, it is not that there is something wrong with that, I should add.
“We are very happy to be in the mixture and we wait for the day!”
