The free April 24 will allow people to learn more about wastewater treatment work and the history of the pumping station.
Cruce’s wastewater treatment, in the Bexley district, serves a large part of southern London, including Putney, Thapsmead and Bromley.
The open day will take place between 3 PM and 7 PM, and visitors can meet the operational team and learn about current and future investment plans for the site.
This is part of the Thames Water Plan to improve 250 of its wastewater sites to manage greater demand due to population growth and climate change.
The open doors is supported by Volunteers in Crossness Engines Trust.
The members of the public will be able to discuss the history of the pumping station and obtain an understanding of the sanitation challenges facing Victorian London.
The trust will also coordinate the regular train walks between the entrance doors and the place.
The customer and interested part manager of Thames Water for southern London said: “We are really excited to have the opportunity to involve and speak to local residents in Thapsmead, our neighbors, about wastewater treatment work and be holsesses of holding.”
To book a place in the event, people must send an email to trudy.earl@halswater.co.uk.
