The machine of the 1840s, which has been on display at the Museum of Gardening in Hassocks, will now be a Centerrepiece in the exhibition of the British Library, “unlocked: the power of gardening”, until August 10.
The curator Clive Semiott said: “Since he arrived at Hassocks, with a generous loan of Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd of Ipswich, it is the star attraction at the South Downs Nurseries Gardening Museum.
“We have had dozens of visitors from everywhere to see, photograph and film the historical host in recent months.”
The corteped is the oldest known for existing and one of the only two original treasury models.
It is prior to the model in the Science Museum for approximately a decade.

Sevelatt has investigated the original owners of the corteped and even discovered details about the main gardener who probably used the corteped in the 1840s.
He has published these findings on his blog.
Mr. Gravt said: “Something that this remarkable deserves to be seen by those interested in our horticultural heritage.
“And I am delighted that it is part of the main summer exhibition of the British Library, and I am sure that the embedding will also have bone.”
After its period in London, the cuttage will return to Sussex in mid -August to exhibit for the rest of the year.
