The Pope died at age 88 on Monday, April 21, after a brain brain spill that led to irreversible coma and heart failure, said the Vatican.
Francis proclaimed that the grave should only have written “Francisco”.
According to a translation, the Pope only made requests regarding his place of burial in his will.

“On behalf of the Blessed Trinity. Amen.
“Feeling that the sunset of my earthly life is approaching and with an animated hope in eternal life, I want to express my testamentary only with respect to the place of my burial.
“I have always trusted my life and my priestly and episcopal ministry to the mother of Our Lord, Mary Más Santa.
“Therefore, I ask that my mortal remains rest waiting on the day of the resurrection in the papal or Santa María Basilica.
“I would like my last earthly trip to end precisely in this former Marian sanctuary, where I went to pray at the beginning and each apostolic trip to trust my intentions to the immaculate mother and thank her docile and maternal.
“I ask that my grave is prepared in the niche of the side nave between the Paulina Chapel, the Chapel of Salus Populi Romani and the Sforza chapel of the Aphoramented Papal Basilica as indicated in the locked annex.
“The grave must be on Earth; simple, without partular decoration and with the only inscription: Francisco.
