Oliver Glasner said Crystal Palace trusted Ebeeechi Eze to take the penalty in his heavy defeat 5-0 in Newcastle on Wednesday.
The Eagles were kicking in the game after Jacob Murphy had given the Magpies the advantage from the beginning.
Referee Darren England gave Palace a way back to the game when Nick Pope accelerated in Chris Richards coming to claim a free kick.
Eze, born in Greenwich, took a step forward and produced a delayed race that saw him work the ball in the hands of Pope.
Newcastle is used to score three after Eze’s lost effort before part time and rounded the score through Alexander Isak in the second half.
Palace has granted 10 goals in its last two outings out of place.
“It is always that EBZ and JP are the two Take -Up, they decide the field,” Glasner said.
“Ebz had the ball and takes many penalties inside and after training. The usual, gets many goals from this situation and we trust completely.
“Today it didn’t work, but nothing worked today.
“Today, we were not good enough to be a competitive opposition for Newcastle, this is what we have to accept today.”
