A man who traveled from the United States to Wales to “marry” with a 15 -year -old girl who prepared online has sentenced more than seven years in prison.
Jacob Ewing, 44, or Wildcat Pound Road, Hubert, North Carolina, forced the Welsh adolescent to perform acts of “descent” on herself and see him perform sexual acts.
He was arrested upon arrival at Cardiff airport last year.
Ewing was sentenced at Newport Crown Court seven years and eight months after admitting a wide range of crimes.
These included six positions of causing or inciting a child to participate in sexual activities, two or try to make a child see a sexual act, three to own photographs of bleeding or a child.
He also admitted the possession of an article with a blade or point in a public place and an offensive weapon.
Ewing traveled with wedding rings, and also wore a knife and a wooden cosh.
Judge Celia Hughes said the two with online, where Ewing told the girl that she was a “pedophile hunter” and a Christian.
He convinced her to let her see her asleep while they were live online, and in the morning she told her that she had performed a sexual act while she loosen.
The court heard that the girl’s parents did not know who she was talking with and initially realized that she was something local and of the same age as her.
Judge Hughes said: “Hello, he began to control her, being alternately friendly and then unpleasant with her, even saying that she should not sleep in night, even when she was cold.
“At one point he saw that the defendant had initials tattooed in his chest.”
Victim ‘prepared and operated’
Ewing showed him a firearm and made him see him perform sexual acts on himself more than 20 times, according to the court.
“He felt too rejected,” added the judge.
“The defendant said he would come to the United Kingdom, since he would soon turn 16, so they could marry and have children.
“We know that he brought rings with him when he came to the airport.”
The judge said the girl and her family have been “devastated” by Ewing’s actions.
Judging Ewing, he said: “You have portrayed yourself as the victim and you don’t have the responsibility of their actions.
“It is very fortunate that you have stopped you at the airport.”
The court heard that Ewing could be deported his sentence, but that this was an issue for the Ministry of Interior.
After the audience, the Supt Philip O’Connell of the Gwent Police said Ewing had been “preparing and exploiting” his victim for more than a year “before traveling thousands of miles to meet her.”
He said that a collaboration effort with the US authorities and the border force of the United Kingdom meant that the officers arrested at the Cardiff airport “before it could cause damage to the victim.”
“However, his actions promoted by his sexual gratification and the fear that his victim imposed will have a deep impact,” he added.
He said that the force welcomed the prayer and encouraged “anyone who may think is a victim of preparation or exploitation to present.”
