The fire exploded on a two -story property within the two -story frame in Nithdale Road just before the 1.50 am today (April 14).
The teams rescued a property woman, however, was then declared dead on the scene.
The fire was under control just before 2.40 am
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “Unfortunately, a woman died after a fire in the house in Nithdale Road, Plumstead.
“The fire occurred on a two -story property, damaging the part of the ground floor.
“The teams rescued a woman from the property, but unfortunately she was declared dead in the scene by an emergency medical service team by helicopter.
“The brigade was first called about the incident at 0148, and Plumstead, Eltham and Sidcup teams were sent to the scene. The firefighters had the incident under control by 0239.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.”
