A murder investigation is being carried out after the death of a murderer sentenced in a high security prison.
John Mansfield’s body was found in HMP Whitemoor, near March in Cambridgeshire, around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday.
Mansfield was imprisoned for life in 2007 for the murder of Ann Alfonso at Whalley Range, Manchester.
Cambridgeshire police said a 44 -year -old man had arrested on his legs under suspicion of murder.
The force confirmed that he was called to prison after an inmate of about 60 years was found dead.
A spokesman from the Ministry of Justice said: “The police are investigating the death of the prisoner John Mansfield in HMP Whitemoor on Sunday, April 13.”
Mansfield was imprisoned A minimum of 30 years after stopping MS Alfonso guilty in August 2006.
She had stabbed one leg about 20 times on the head and neck.
A post Mortem examination discovered that it had 97 wounds, bruises and cuts in its body as a result of the attack.
