PC Philip Walters was deadly shot in the chest while attending a disturbance at Empresas Avenue, Ilford, on April 18, 1994.
The 28 -year -old officer had called the scene with his colleague, PC Derek Shepherd, after reports from three men to attack an occupant.

PC Shepherd also was shot and injured the duration of the incident.
Commander Stuart Bell paid tribute to PC Walters in the memorial service.
He said: “PC Philip Walters made the last sacrifice for the community that served here in reducing 30 years ago.
“Every year is an honor for local officers to join the loved ones of PC Walters, friends and former colleagues to remember their life and service to this community.
“It is important to remember Ourelves who behind the uniform of an officer was a brave young man: a son, a friend and a savior who paid the final sacrifice.”

He was awarded the Batón de Honor at the Police Training School for his excellent action.

“We must never assume the actions of police officers who put the issues in danger to protect others and fight crime.”
