A professional footballer has been imprisoned for 14 months to cause the death of a cyclist in an accident in West Yorkshire.
Adrian Daniel, 33, died 10 days after he was beaten by a Mercedes G350 driven by Mansfield Town Town Lucas Akins, near Huddersfield in March 2022.
The Liga Uno player, 36, or Heys Road in Thongsbridge, Holmfirth, was imprisoned in Leeds Crown Court who declared himself previously guilty of causing death by careless driving or without discussion.
In an impact statement of the victim, Mr. Daniel’s wife, Savanna, said her death had been “like hell and a nightmare that I am not waking up,” he added: “There were no areas for Adrian to Adrian be murdered in that way.”

Mrs. Daniel added: “He was a great father, son and husband and his legacy will always be to live life to the fullest.”
Daniel, from Meltham, was bicycle home from work along Huddersfield Road in Netherton on March 17 when he hit Mr. Akins when the player left in front of him from the crossing with Crosland Factory Lane.
The court heard that the accident was captured in the House of Mr. Daniel’s helmet, and that he was not breaking the speed limit on his bicycle and had adopted an appropriate position in the middle of the lane.
Judge Alex Menary said that Akins, who plays in a match in Liga Uno for Mansfield on Monday, did not check the right already the right before retiring.
