A Manchester Arena’s bombing survivor has said that he is angry, disgusted and broken after the bomber was able to attack three prison guards in a high security unit in Durham County.
Hashem Abedi, who is being hero in HMP Frankland, He threw hot oil to the officers on Saturday And stabbed them with makeshift blades.
In an open letter to the Shabana Mahmood Secretary of Justice, Martin Hibbert criticized how Abedi was “comfort and privilege” or kitchen facilities and said that the pain of the survivors is “blatantly disrespected.”
The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has said that there will be a complete and independent review of the incident.
Abedi, who helped his older brother Salman to plan the Manchester Arena attack, was imprisoned for life with a minimum of 55 years in prison after being convicted of murdering 22 people in the 2017 attack.
Mr. Hibbert was paralyzed from the waist in the explosion and his daughter Eva went severely disabled.
In his letter posted on social networks, Mr. Hibbert said: “We are going to call this what it is: a catastrophic failure of his duty for prison staff and the public of a non -appealing terrorist.
“Not only Abedi allowed the freedom to move and use facilities that should never be available to some like him, but could track and aim three prison guards to use boiling oil and homemade weapons.
“They made me believe that people like him, mass murderers, terrorists, would face a strict control regime and zero comfort. I was tolerated.
“What I see now is not justice. It is a shameful lack of responsibility and basic security in prison.”

Abedi had been a hero in a separation center, which has a small number of inmates considered dangerous and extremists, in Frankland.
He moved to Frankland after carrying out an earlier attack against prison officers in the Belmarsh prison in London in 2020, so he added three years and 10 months to his sentence.
Two prison officers remain in the hospital with serious injuries for the last attack, while one third has been discharged.
“I’m not only angry. I’m broken for this,” Hibbert added. “And I am furious that the pain of survivors as I am so blatantly disrespected by their inaction.
“This cannot continue. Something drastic should be done. No tomorrow. Not next month. Now.
“Check the privileges of your prison. Show with any access to the areas where you can make or find weapons. Protect your staff. Protect the memory of those we lost. Respect those who survived.
“Because at this time, it seems that you have forgotten us.”

Hibbert’s letter comes a day after the families of five people murdered in the Sand bombardment told the Secretary of Justice of his “absolute disbelief“On the HMP Frankland attack.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer spokesman said he was “of course something terrible” with the way Abedi had been handled.
A Moj spokesman said: “Our thoughts remain with the victims of the Manchester sand bombing and their families who are understandably concerned about the shocking attack at HMP Frankland this weekend.
“We already have tasks Immediate action to suspend access to kitchens In nearby separation and supervision centers.
“We will also launch a complete independent review of how this attack could happen and establish the terms and scope of this review in the next few days.”
With his brother, the terrorist suicide Salman Abedi, Hashem Abedi planned and prepared the attack against the Ariana Grande concert in 2017.
He was in Libya when the place of the explosion toke and then was extradited to the United Kingdom to face the trial.
Hashem Abedi was convicted in 2020 or 22 positions of murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to cause an explosion that endangers life, and Sentenced to a minimum record of 55 years before it could be consulted by probation.
It is understood that Hashem Abedi has been transferred to the HMP Full Sutton separation center after the kitchen attack.
