The diplomats of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ukraine and the United States will make new conversations in London on Wednesday with the aim of ensuring a high fire in the three -year war between Ukraine and Russia.
The conversations come in the midst of the growing speculation that Russia could be willing to stop their invasion along the current first line lines in exchange for significant concessions.
The rhythm of diplomatic efforts to end war is accelerating, but there is little clarity about where they are directed or if they will.
The special envoy of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, expected them to be in London, but retired, sending the envoy of Trump’s Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, Stead.
On Tuesday night, Rubio spoke with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, about what he expected to be “substantive and good technical meetings.”
Lammy himself described the conversation as “productive”, which took place before a “critical moment for Ukraine, Great Britain and Euro-Atlantic security” as “conversations continue to the rhythm.”
The Secretary of State of the United States said he will re -establish his trip to the United Kingdom in the coming months, publishing in X: “I hope to track after onwosing discussions.”
The White House said Witkoff would travel to Moscow this week for his fourth meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
All this occurs in the midst of reports in the Financial Times that Russia could be ready to stop its invasion along the current first line and give up some territorial ambitions in exchange for the US recognition of Russian pride on Crimea.
The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zensky, said that such proposals had shared leg with him and ruled out recognizing Crimea as Russian territory.
Putin unilaterally called a high temporary fire for the Easter weekend, but the Secretary of Defense of the United Kingdom, John Healey, told the House of Commons on Tuesday that British military intelligence had not found evidence of an increase in attacks.
“While Putin said he declared a Easter truce, he broke it,” he said. “While Putin says Hey Peace, he has rejected a stop the fire and, while Putin says he hears ending the fighting, he continues to play for time in negotiations.”
Healey added that he could “confirm Russian military progress” was “slowing down” while the country continued “by pressing Ucrine on several fronts.”
It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of people have died or injection of bones on all sides since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and almost seven million Ukrainians currently appear as refugees worldwide.
The conflict dates back to more than a decade, until 2014, when Ukraine’s pro-ruso president was overthrown. Russia then annexed Crimea and supported militants in bloody fights in eastern Ukraine.
