The news of the main project reached the headlines on April 8 after Bedford Council revealed that the scheme “received the agreement in principle of the government to advance, waiting for planning approval.”
The plans include an entertainment resort complex with a theme park and several thematic lands under the famous universal brand and more, with an estimated opening date in 2031.
It is believed that the project will generate almost 50 billion economic benefits for the United Kingdom with thousands of new jobs, 80 percent of which Bedford’s employment applicants and its surroundings are filled.
According to Universal, the Bedford site “is an ideal location with convenient and fast railway links to the London and London Luton airport.”
However, the project was not always intended for Bedford and was in a one -stage consultant to open near Rainham Marshes.
La Marisma and the old shooting field are more than three times more the size of the Bedford plot, which covers approximately 476 acres.
Music Corporation of America (MCA), predecessors of Universal, had identified the swamps as a potential site and at the same time consult to build the theme park near Paris in the late 1980s.
The perspective was exciting for most, but caused a group for species and animals that live in the marshes of Essex Naturalists Trust.
In 1993, plans to build in Rainham were eliminated.
In an interview with Variety, the president of MCA Enterprises International Frank Stanek said: “The British project became unfeasible.

“The British government could do enough fiscally to make the project interesting.
“The French are very well organized in that field and are very good in support projects that involve new cities such as Melun Sart.”
The plans for a French theme park also fell on a later date.
