The latest statistics of the road of the Department of Transportation reveal that 72 percent of the roads and highways in Havering were qualified as “green”, which means good condition, in 2024.
This puts Havering among the top ten for the districts of London with the highest percentage of roads and highways described as “green”, along with Bexley, Hillingdon and Hounslow.
However, only 53 PC of the B and C roads in the municipality were given a good rating last year, with 26 PCs judged in “red” condition.

The roads with a “red” rating are in bad conditions and will be probable to maintain next year’s need.
Other East London districts, including Tower Hamlets, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham, less than 10 pc of a road and highways classified “network” in 2024, without data registered for roads B and C.
To evaluate the condition of the roads, the Department of Transportation uses a series of parameters, including texture, irregularity and cracking the road surface.
A Hovering Council spokesman told the Recorder That the Council “recognizes the importance of road conditions for our residents.”
They said: “Despite the financial pressures for which the Council is located, we are committed to investing the approach, at 6 billion annually in the planned road maintenance.
“Around the last three years, we have rejuvenated 12.95 miles of pavements and 28.9 miles of roads within the municipality.”
