The plans were presented at the end of December last year to demolish and rebuild the stable blocks in the Maylands Golf Club in Colchester Road, Harold Wood.
The application proposes the demolition of the existing stable blocks and the erection of new stables, as well as 16 containers, a 30x16m Menage, an outdoor exercise area for horses, and 11 car parking spaces for cars.
The supporting documents were submitted at the beginning of February and the application was recognized on February 10 by the Hovering Council.
On Friday of last week (April 11), these plans were rejected by the Hovering Council.

The authority justified its decision and considered that the plans represent a “significant damage” to the “rural nature of the area, so the advertiser has an impact on the visual comforts of the area.”

Another reason declared by the rejection was a group about “noise and disturbances caused to come and come in vehicles on the access road in the early hours of the morning or at the end of the night.”

The Council also pointed out the potential that the existing stables are the home of bats that would be lost whose habitat would be lost through demolition without bat protection measures.
