“This was a horrible crime. The court heard how this was a clear and defined attempt to take a man’s life with those response making efforts significantly to ensure that this was successful.
“This conviction continues several years of investigation, I would like to thank our criminal justice partners and the investigation team for their diligence and tenacity in the attempt to take those responsible to justice.
“The message here for those who participate in serious and organized crimes is one that I want to clarify very clearly: the Metropolitan Police will not tolerate serious violence and the use of firearms in our communities; we will not leave stone without removing to take it before justice.
“Daniel Kelly, Louis and Stewart Ahearne will now face significant custody sentences and I hope that this time in the pleasure of their Majesty gives them the opportunity to reflect on their crime and the impact it has on society.”
