The former news reader and presenter of BBC Radio 2, Colin Berry, died at the age of 79.
Berry was a fixed element in Radio 2 from the early 1970s to the early 90s, organizing the first slot and night shows, including Night Ride and You and the Night and the Music.
He stood up for diurnal presenters, including Sir Terry Wogan, and was host of the BBC Three Radio Counties from 2004 to 2019.
It was also familiar with Eurovision viewers, reading the results of the jurors of the United Kingdom between 1978 and 2002.
Caboling tribute, Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, said: “All of us on Radio 2 saddened by hearing the death of Colin Berry, who was part of our family on Air for many years. We sent our condoles to his family and friends.”
Berry began his career in Pirate Station Radio Caroline in 1965, before moving to BBC Radio Medway (now Kent), HTV in Cardiff and Radio 1 before settling on radio 2.
He was the first host of the stations during the night when the 24 -hour broadcasts began in 1979, with a program that included a What’s on Guide guide and a kitchen slot “for those of our listeners who arrive home late and feel like a refreshment.”
Hello, it also made appearances on television programs that include Top of the Pops, Blankety Blank and Going Live.
