Fifteen people, including former conservative deputy Craig Williams, the Game Commission has accused of betting crimes.
The investigation was launched last year after bets on the time of the general elections of 2024.
The commission said the investigation focused on people “suspicious for using confidential information, specifically anticipated knowledge of the election proposal date, to obtain an unfair advantage in betting markets.”
The defendants will appear in the Westminster Magistrates on June 13, 2025.
Before calling the elections, Williams was the conservative deputy of Montgomereyshire and an assistant of the then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Laura Saunders, who was the conservative candidate in Bristol North West in the general elections, is also on the list of those who have bone accused by the commission.
On May 22, Rishi Sunak announced that the general elections would be held on July 4, a decision that exceeded the expectations of an autumn survey.
