The incident occurred in Dagenham Road, near Eastbrook School, just before the 1.30 pm today (April 17).
The officers and teams of the London ambulance service were called to the scene.
An ambulance team, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager also attended.
The man was declared dead on the scene shortly after.

A spokesman for the London ambulance service said: “Today they called us at 1.28 PM (April 17) for reports from a person who worried in Dagenham Road, Dagenham.
“We send resources to the scene, including an ambulance team, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager.
“Our first paramedics arrived at the scene in less than four minutes.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was declared dead on the scene.”
