Roy King, who had previous convictions for sexual children, was declared guilty of being a friend of an 18 -year -old man and then rapeing him in the park in 2007
They gave him an indeterminate sentence for public protection (IPP), which saw a criminal to prison for an indefinite period of time until a probation board said that the offender was suitable for liberation.
IPP sentences were abolished in 2012, but King was one or around 2,000 IPP prisoners who remained within the penitentiary system.
The 61 -year -old man was detained at HMP Littlehey, a prison for men convicted of sexual crimes, when he died on January 30, 2023, a report by the Ombudsman of Prison and Prisons (PPO).
Three days before, a prisoner made accusations that King had assaulted him sexual.
An officer discussed the accusations with King who shouted that the prisoner was lying and said: “I know you are going to believe that a liar.”
As a result of the accusations, King was transferred to a different wing, faced disciplinary positions and lost his work in prison.
King had lost his job on an earlier occasion to make threatening and racist comments, on that occasion he had self -designed.
Hours after King was informed that the accusation of sexual assault paid attention to an excess, died subsignarly at the hospital three days later.
An investigation concluded “Death for misfortune”, discovering that King deliberately touched overdose but did not intend to take his own life.
The accusation of sexual assault was reported to the Cambridgeshire Police, but the case closed after King’s death.
The PPO criticized a failure to properly monitor King after the accusation.
A report declared: “Mr. King had a history of repeated self -injuries after inappropriate behavior, when he lost his job or after the staff told him to do something he did not want to do.
“Allhehh this was clearly recorded in the records of their prison, the staff did not cut the starting of initial Act (suicide and monitoring of self -harm) on the morning of January 27, which would probably have led to the consideration of eliminating Mr. King.” ”
A clinical reviewer was also very critical of the actions of some medical care personnel and informed two nurses to the Nursing and Partería Council.

King, who lived in western Norwood at that time, was convicted of the violation of the knife tip of an 18 -year -old man in 2007.
The crime was committed in July of the previous year when King became friends with the young man and sacrificed him a place to stay after his last train home.
King was arrested and accused of rape and sexual aggression a day later.
He denied any responsibility or participation in the crime.
When he faced CCTV and forensic evidence, he said he had sex agreed with the victim.
The jury unanimously found the king guilty of anal rape and sexual aggression.
King had 11 previous convictions for 25 offess, nine or that are or a sexual nature and include serious crimes against young children.
