A letter written in 1945 by a woman aimed at her “dear” in the RAF has been found in a military uniform bought in a charity store.
Andy Hacking, 61, said he bought the RAF uniform about five years in a store in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester, and discovered the letter in a pocket with a later mark dating from December 17, 1945.
The letter was written by a woman named Jean from Herschell Street, Preston, who expressed her joy that her “love” station in Wiltshire returned home for Christmas, and added that he had “counted the days.”
Hacking, Accr and Lancashire, who has an interest in the militarium and recreation of World War II, said he would love to love to gather Jean’s family with the letter.

He told the BBC Radio Lancashire: “When I saw the uniform I thought the penalty stayed in a charity store, so I bought it with the intention of taking it to one of the events.”
“But in those days people were much smaller, so they were 30 inches [waist] And I have a 6 -foot and 32 -inch waist, so I would simply fit.
He said it, he thought, but it was only when he showed the uniform to a friend who discovered the letter and a RAF newspaper.

Hacking said the letter, that it was signed “so long love”, was personal and that he would love to gather it with Jean’s family.

Jean mentions the lesson of the letter that said he gave him the direction of Heretheart, as well as Joan, who was weaving his gloves for his Christmas gift.
