The festival, which began as a small children’s event, has become a vibrant celebration for people of all ages and skills.
This year’s Carnival will take place on Saturday, July 12 at Barking Town Square, from 1pm to 6.30 pm

The theme by 2025 is “together we grow, a greener future.”
Carnival aims to be more than a celebration, acting as a movement for sustainability and unity.
Attendees can expect a line of actions, practical workshops and immersive experiences.
International Carnival artists will offer performances, as are street dancers and school groups.
The Carnival Village will organize creative workshops, which include costumes, steel pan, tambo bamboo and African battery sessions.
Family activities, including facial painting, local businesses and interactive experiences for all ages, will also be beevailable.
Participants have reflected on the impact of the festival.
Seyi Afolabi, a volunteer, said: “In essence, the Carnival Barking and Dagenham encourages unity and understanding.
“It is a space where everyone belongs.”
Vanesha Jordan, another volunteer, said: “This event is a true celebration of culture and diversity.
“It brings together people in the best possible way.”
The Carnival is organized by UKON Careers, an organization dedicated to empowering communities and at the end of social cohesion through inclusive initiatives.
