Traveling abroad on your own can be a discouraging task. The first time I did it, I spent the week having insomnia nights to get to the wrong terminal at the airport and told me that I lost my flight (fortunately, this did not happen!).
To help (or provide a little breath to prove it), I have gathered a carefully selected list of essential steps and key consultations to take into account as your first trip plans. In this way, you will enter the airport full of emotion and anticipation, instead of feeling too rejected and tired like me.
Step one: Planning
Let’s start from the beginning. Now, I know that this could be a bit obvious, after all, you can’t make a trip without planning! But the reason I am dedicating a section here is because there is a difference planning, and good planning! If you are like me, you probably have spent too much time imagining in a distant country, but until you can elaborate a clear plan, with a vision well, it will never be much more than a fantasy!
So how do you decide where you want to go? In my opinion, choosing a place simply because it is pleasant and hot is a bit boring. So, perhaps you should consider visiting a place that really captures your interest; For example, if you are a K-pop fan, a trip to Seoul to experience the vibrant music scene in person could be the perfect choice. If you are a pizza fan, spaghetti and risotto (guilty as loadedOr course!) Then Italy is undoubtedly the place for you!
This point is more relevant to all my classmates: security! I cannot exaggerate the important thing to review thoroughly if the places where you will visit and stay are safe and viable for a solo traveler. Fortunately, this is a lot of esier now in 2025 of what would have bone in the past! Personally, I like Googroos and achieve possible hotels and areas, and read the reviews of users that people kindly leave. Other social media websites are also useful in this regard (Reddit is also excellent!).
And, of course, we cannot forget the dreaded word B! No no That One – Ahem, I mean budgeting! For many of us, money tends to be the greatest obstacle when it comes to embarking on a solo adventure. The good news is that airports are not going anywhere, either one, two or even three years from now on, there is always time to put a little more if that means that your trip is even more comfortable, if you reserve a trip in 2025 it will extend too much, there is no shame to move it a year to 2026 (although I will say that all the way to 2027 is playing too safe!
Step Dos: Prep
In the good morning (also known as three years ago), I was a little less rigorous when my preparatory rituals were, but those days have gone! Previously, I would have hurried to choose the correct accommodation and perhaps not think enough to organize my flights. Today, I am much more methodical in my approach, and I take my sweet and sweet time with each part of the process. Naturally, this means solving the other bits we need before being able to travel. Be sure to verify if you need a visa for your destination. Print your shipping passes in advance to save time at the airport and, for love of all sacred things, verify what is allowed on the plane. No one is a chicken to be trapped behind some of them discussing why your perfume bottle cannot make the trip! The rules are clear, love, and we must all continue with them!

At this point, it has led to boring and annoying travel bits, and it is time to put all that time making good use! Make sure your phone is completely loaded so you can use your GPS applications, as well as anything else that can move more easily (prepaid suic cards to travel in Japan Spring to Thing to Mind!). And if you are one of those people who can be a bit lazy when it comes to learning useful phrases in your target language of choice (*Cough* me *Cough*¡), Google Translate will be invaluable! You can even aim the camera from your phone to something and get an instant translation just before your eyes!
