After taking home two of four awards at the event last month, Ciara O’Reilly of Team Anapheno reflects on the transcendental experience.

The team, which also included Dylan Hussain, Luke O’Sullivan and Ein Creeavin, combined their collective skills in engineering, physics, computer science, application development and AI to propose the portable device.

After demonstrating the potential of his project in the regional competition, the Anapheno team traveled to China last month and participated in the four -day Tech4Good accelerator camp in Beijing and Shenzhen, where the students took advantage of 10 hours of off -line coaching and tutoring sessions.
“Around these four days, we work day and night in our project and receive an expert tutoring in crucial components such as prototype creation, market analysis and device testing,” O’Reilly said. In the final competition event in Shenzhen, the Anapheno team and 11 other teams established project exhibitions and launched a panel of five judges composed of industry and CEO leaders.
“The competition was difficult, and I do not doubt that we see the other teams achieving surprising success after the program,” said O’Reilly.
After a voting session that involved more than 60 students and experts in the industry, the Anapheno team claimed their first victory of the night: the People’s Choice award.
Moments later, the five Irish students were called to the stage to receive the Bronze Global Award. In general, the team ended with two of the four awards at stake.
A trip to remember
As part of his transcendental prize, the trip of the Anafero team to China extended to accommodate visits to two other cities, Hangzhou and Shanghai, where the students visited the Huawei campus and the headquarters of local partners such as the Rednote.
“Both cities were extraordinary, the highlight was the boat tour in Lake West in Hangzhou with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The community that was building the experience was incredible and I am that we have made friends for life.”
Reflecting on the trip and his general experience of the Seeds For The Future program, O’Reilly said she was grateful not only for the rich cultural experience, but also for the opportunity to observe “some of the most advanced technological ecosystems in the world.”
