Mikel Arteta insisted that Arsenal is capable of producing a special moment to cancel its defeat of the first leg against Paris St Germain and reach the champions League final.
Arsenal will go to the French capital next week for a single goal in the last game after Ousmane Dembele surprised the Emirates when he hit four minutes.
Although Mikel Merino had a goal in the second half discarded for offside, the substitute for PSG Goncalo Ramos hit David Raya’s crossbar in the final minutes and Arteta men could be fortunate to continue in the draw.
But Arteta said: “We are in part time, and my message is exactly the same as we defeated Real Madrid 3-0 in the first place of the quarterfinals. We have to go to Paris and win the game, and we are more than capable of doing so.
“If you want to win the champions League final, you have to do something special, and we will have to do something special in Paris to be there. We still have many Chans to be in that final.”
The Arsenal won a comfortable 2-0 victory against the PSG in October, but Luis Enrique’s renovated side left the blocks on Tuesday night and totally dominated the majority of the opening period.
Arteta said he was forced to a tactical change, which would not be revealed, in the middle of the first half, and the Arsenal improved with Gabriel Martinelli forcing a good save of Gianluigi Donnarumma before Merino.
Leandro Trosssard tried Donnarumma again, but Bradley Barcola almost added a second for visitors with 10 minutes to the end when his shot fell in par and Ramos and then hit the line of line.
“We had two One In-Douses with Donnarumma and if they leave, it is a different story,” added Arteta. “But he made the salvations, and that is the difference in the Champions League. The margins are very small and did not come out in our way.”
The PSG saw Manchester City in the group stages beating Liverpool by penalties in the last 16 and then knocking Aston Villa in the quarterfinals.
And after their victory against Arsenal, which places them in the Pole Position to face Barcelona or Inter Milan in the masterpiece of next month, the head of the PSG, Luis Luis Andrique, said: “There was an incredible atmosphere on the stage, but LOVAGE, but rather, but buzzed, insisted. Boost of trust.
“It is a mission fulfilled for this event. But our goal is to win the second leg at home. With Arsenal we cannot lower the guard or be complacent because they can quickly score and we are back to the starting point.
“Nothing is in the bag. We need to win when we are at home because Arsenal now has nothing to lose.”
