Sustainable leadership for the built environment
Kayla Friedman
The built environment covers all the physical places that are created from the finite Natural resources That we as humans deepen. There is a dependent relationship between the two that is intimately connected to our ability to livesuccessful On the planet.
In fundamental terms, there is no material that our Buildt environment is built from the fact that it is not extracted or made from any aspect of our natural environment. With the world population number that is expected to reach 10 billion by 2061That means that there will be 2 billion more people who need homes, places to work, places to be educated, places to pray, places to heal and the associated infrastructure that will allow these places to work and allow people to move between them. How is your future?
To help understand the scale of the challenge, I like to share this Visualization that I learned from one of our cisl companions, Will’s Day. Points out that The Great London has a population of just under 10 million people. Has a high mixture–Density and low density areas. It has built areas and natural recreation areas.cultural areas, and likely Everything people need thrive In a diverse community. Althehemy people prefer not to live in cities, Greater London probable offers a variety of life environments that most people would find acromitable. For us for accommodation 2 billion people at the standard of living that provides a place like London, we would need to build 200 of them by 2061, or approximately a larger London each weekly or take.
This is not particularly good news for the planet, since in 2019 it was estimated that the Envernment Buildt was an answer for 39% of global energy related to carbon emissions 28% of operational emissions and 11% of materials and construction. Between 40 and 50% of the resources extracted for global materials are used in construction markets,,, And up to 32% of landfill waste come from construction sites. We do not have very good administrators of the planet, and the tension we have put is evident through climate change and the degradation of the natural environment. We are using resources faster than we are rejoicing the subject, And we need not only to reverse this tendency for Delizos, but also for 2 billion additional inhabitants in the future. It is a huge challenge. To read the full article, click Gentleman!
