The United Kingdom Banking Industry urges the Government to extend new legal protections for retail workers to the staff of the banks of banks and construction societies, warning that they face similar risks of abuse, violence and intimidation.
A new independent crime is being introduced for roasting retail workers under the draft law of crimes and government police, which currently progresses through Parliament. The measure, promised for the first time by the previous conservative administration and now adopted by the labor, would make it a specific criminal offense to assault retail workers, with criminals who face up to six months of imprisonment and//unlimited fine.
However, the finance of the United Kingdom, the commercial body that represents the banking sector, said that the bill excludes the staff of the banking and construction society, despite the 10,503 abuse incidents in branches last year.
“This exclusion unfairly discriminates against the branch staff,” said the United Kingdom Finance in its presentation to Parliament. “Like other customer -oriented workers, they deserve to feel safe at work. Banking assaults must have the same consequences.”
Banking branches, argued, play a unique role in the main street, or take care of emotional load situations linked to personal finances, security and aspirations of people.
The United Kingdom finances also pointed out a greater protest activity against bank branches in environmental and geopolitical matters.
Several Barclays branches were destroyed last year by pro-palestinian activists who allege links with companies that supply Israel weapons. The protesters interrupted the bank of the bank earlier this month waving Palestinian flags.
HSBC and Standard Chartered have also seen their headquarters from the United Kingdom led by climatic activists in fossil fuel financing, increasing Conerns on the safety of personnel and the demonstrations of customer duration.
“The protests against banks that lend defense companies are regularly large and violent,” said the United Kingdom. “The personnel of the innocent branch or the members of the public are putting themselves at real damage.”
While the common assault is already a crime under the law of the United Kingdom, the successful retail sector pressed for a dedicated position, citing growing incidents of vilipidity and abuse.
The Government under the initial of Rishi Sunak resisted, but reversed its position before the last elections. There that the legislation was eliminated by the dissolution of Parliament, the new Labor Government has revived the proposal with an independent crime focused on retail workers.
A spokesman from the Ministry of Interior said: “No one should be attacked while at work and this government is taking solid measures to address store theft and protect retail workers.”
But for banking staff, the lack of inclusion in the offensive of proposals leaves them legally exposed, despite dealing with more volatile and more volatile scenarios.
The United Kingdom is now asking for amendments to the bill to ensure that branch staff receives the same legal protections as its retail counterparts.
As violence in the workplace and threats related to protest throughout the financial sector increase, industry leaders argue that all employees who guide the public deserve the same protection under the law, regardless of whether it sells groceries or handling personal savings.
