Bitcoin dropped under the $80,000 level on Monday, dragged by the continued selling pressure in the equities market. Earlier, the price of the flagship cryptocurrency fell as low as $77,396.43, its lowest level since November, according to Coin Metrics. Shares of companies linked to the crypto space also slid. Coinbase ended the day down 17.6%. Robinhood lost 19.8%, and bitcoin proxy play Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, declined more than 16%. The price of Bitcoin has doubled since the start of the year in signs of a resurgence of investor confidence in the cryptocurrency after its value tumbled last year. Bitcoin rose more than 3% today to touch the $34,500 mark. SpaceX’s Crew-10 launched into space Friday to bring home two NASA astronauts who have been stuck at the International Space Station (ISS) since June 6. Bitcoin has built-in scarcity, and a definitive “full stop” by design. There will only ever be 21 million Bitcoin, and roughly 19.6 million have already been mined.  It is expected to take until 2140 to generate those last 1.4 million Bitcoin, because Bitcoin production slows down over time. This is part of a system designed to generate scarcity and increase Bitcoin’s value. The slow-down is managed through a process called Bitcoin halving. It’s one of the key ways Bitcoin is unlike a traditional fiat currency, and is more of an investor’s asset than anything else.

Delta Air Lines is partnering with aerospace startup JetZero on its development of a sustainable blended-wing-body aircraft. The blended-wing-body design of the planned JetZero plane is expected to make it “up to 50% more fuel efficient than conventional tube-and-wing airframes on the market,” the carrier said. Delta intends to lend its operational expertise to JetZero, now a member of the carrier’s Sustainable Skies Lab, as the California-based startup develops the jet. Through the partnership, JetZero will have access to the “right maintenance and operational footprints to prove out and accelerate the commercialization” of the blended-wing-body aircraft, according to Delta.
