Compatible housing, which helps vulnerable or disabled people to live independently, is in crisis, an open letter signed by more than 170 organizations in claims in the sector.
The services in one in three suppliers in England had to close last year, which adds to a total deficit of approximately 325,000 places, says the letter, which will be delivered to Prime Minister Keir Starmer today. The signatories include Refuge, AGE UK and the National Housing Federation (NHF).
Kaging cuts to the financing of the council and the increase in costs, the NHF says that one in three suppliers fears that it can close unless the government promises more money.
The government says that the supported housing is vital and focuses on building more homes.
Currently, about half a million people in the United Kingdom live in homes with support, including young twins, army veterans, people with learning disabilities and those who escape Homestic abuse.
“Compatible housing plays an indispensable role in the cut of the NHS waiting list and the reduction of pressure on social care, temporary accommodation and other vital public services,” says the open letter.
However, he says that the future of housing supported is now at risk after “years of fund cuts” and that local authorities have now been forced to “dismantle vital services.”
“The increase in costs together with the reduced funds has made many services not see, forcing many to close, while the demand for support continues to increase. The decision to increase the contributions of the National Employers Insurance has placed Equther.”
Organizations ask for an increase in long -term funds for housing related to at least £ 1.6 billion per year for the councils and homes supported are among the 1.5 million new houses planned by the Government.
“We recognize the vital role played by the homes supported by assistant people to live independently and well, and the contribution it makes to address the rough sleep and the timely diameter of the hospital,” a spokesman for the department’s department.
The spokesman said that the government was putting £ 2 billion in the increase in the construction of social housing and affordable in 2026-27, with the details established in a long-term housing strategy at the end of this year.

The proponents of austerity measures say that difficult financing options must be taken to balance the United Kingdom finances.
However, Shaoxiong Liu says that his family does not know what they would have done with a housing place supported for his son Jason.
39 years, Jason has autism, a disability of learning and mental health challenges. As he grew, this became increasingly immanent for his family. After getting sick, Jason was admitted to the hospital with sepsis in 2017.
Due to his challenging behavior and a condition that induces severe vomiting, he remained in the hospital for months while struggling to find a long -term place that could meet their needs.
Anyway, he was placed with an advanced house, where his family says that Jason has flourished in the eight intermediate years. Its weight has increased from 35 kg to 53 kg, you can go on bus trips and attend social events organized by the housing supplier.
“Jason’s behavior is much better now. He has lived there for so long and is happy there,” says Liu. “Jason is an adult now and we are in our 70 years, so his behavior could be quite dermous for us if he lived with us, we couldn’t take care of it.”
The NHF says that one in three suppliers in England that surveyed, says that it may stop providing services completely, which means that the loss of 70,000 homes supported throughout the country.
In 2009, the funds from the Conferto Council for housing related support were eliminated. When the Budgets of the Council were reduced the austerity of 2010, funds were needed in other areas, which means that some tips had to reduce support services.
The NHF says that this means that there are now less compatible houses than in 2007, including a loss of 3000 compatible houses in the last three years. Calculate that there is a total deficit or up to 325,000 compatible houses, according to the unsatisfied need.
