Newham Council has approved a contract of £ 2.1 million with General Demolition Ltd to carry out enabling works in the tower block.
The company was selected through a bidding process that evaluated five offers on quality, price and social value.
The works will prepare the building for future construction and can begin despite the fact that vacant possession has not yet been achieved.
An exclusion zone has approved the leg around the floor of the removating lessor to guarantee safe access while the work is carried out.

The contractor will complete any renovating work once the building is completely unoccupied, the council said.
The project will deliver 132 new ‘affordable’ rental homes and replace four landlord properties, starting the broader carpenters master plan.
The authority to award the contract was delegated for the first time by the cabinet in July 2021, with monitoring decisions taken in March 2021 and February 2025.
These decisions clear the way to allow the work to process before the main development, subject to the consent of planning and a positive resident ballot.
Populo Living, the housing company of the Council, is supervising the scheme.
The broader regeneration of carpenters is aimed at delivering more than 2,100 houses, as well as a new university of crafts, coffee shops, restaurants, shops and workshops.
