The Bromley Council has sold two housing development sites adjacent to the park and obtained £ 21.8 million in funds that will be completely in the regeneration project.
The large -scale project will include the restoration of the 30 famous dinosaurs sculptures listed in grade 1 within the park and the creation of a new game courtyard with dinosaurs themes, a new visitors center and a new community and coffee center.
In addition to resulting in the impulse of multimillionaire financing for the project, the sale of land has unlocked 3.76 acres of previously inaccessible lands and has returned it to the park.
Bromley’s council announced last week that he had sold two sites, Rockhills and Sydenham Villas, to the Clarion Housing Group Housing Association. 210 houses are expected to build the sites, with a scheme planning permit granted for this, as well as for the rest of the Park project, in 2023.
The Council also obtained more money for the two sites than was initially expected, with a report from the Council last July estimating that they would sell for £ 19.36 million.
Bromley executive councilor for renewal, recreation and housing, CLLR Yvonne Bear, said: “This is another milestone completed in the regeneration of this historic park, surely necessary funds necessary for this comprehensive regeneration plan to be viable.
“While the sale of land for housing has always been planned, I am pleased that we have managed to ensure affordable homes of the sale and at the same time maximize the value for the works, which means that more of the homes we need with constructed we build, we are in a significant home.
“The residents will soon see exciting works that begin to restore the loved inheritance of the park and thanks to the sale will soon be possible more improvements to the park.”
The Sydenham Villas site is located on the east side of the park, next to the Cricket field. The demolition of the San Juan ambulance building and the Diddy Dinos nursery along Crystal Palace Park Road and the relocation of the maintenance building of a Ranger will give way to the residential development of 70 units.
Rockhills is located in the northwest corner of the Crystal Palace Park on the old caravan site; Here 140 residential units will be built, as well as a new community center, parking and an improved entrance for the public in the park.
The provision for a new nursery is included within the plans of the Community Center.
Clarion Housing Group Development Director Richard Cook said: “We are proud to deliver very necessary houses as part of this transforming project for Crystal Palace Park.
“This development will not only provide high quality sustainable houses for local people, but will also contribute to the regeneration of one of the most historical green spaces in London.
“When working in association with Bromley Council and Crystal Palace Park Trust, we ensure that both housing and heritage can prosper together, benefiting the local community in the coming generations.”
The £ 21.8 million made of the sale of land together with £ 5 million secured by the Bromley Council of the National Lottery Heritage Fund last October will constitute most of the money used to initiate the regeneration project what is “in the Council, is intended for Commotion, Commotion,
