Corin Harper-Davis, 37, or Dermody Road, admitted the homicide or his uncle, Jonathan Harper, for the decreased responsibility.
The fatal attack took place in the town of Bampford Speke, near Exeter, on July 31 of last year.
A court heard that Harper-Davis’s mental health had been in Declive for a period of months and then submerged significantly in the days before the incident.
The information of witnesses and medical experts revealed that he had been experiencing a psychotic illness when he attacked his uncle, who tried to help him and support him.
They had both purchases in the legs when the defendant became aggressively and attacked his uncle without prior notice, stabbing him four times.

This means that he will be stopped in a safe hospital and can only be ruled with the consent of the Secretary of State for Justice.
The Inspector Detective Guy Biggar said: “This is a truly tragic case, and I would like to convey my gratitude and condolences to the couple and son of Jonathan, who have shown a real courage and compassion at an incredible time.
“I would also like to thank those other members of the Harper family who supported our investigation from the beginning and the members of the community in Bampford Speke who hastened to Jonathan’s help and committed themselves to Corin to the police units.”
