The two -year project of Charabancs and Cadillacs has been collecting travel and transport memories through oral history and reminiscent sessions.
The collection safely maintained in a trunk has items such as a 1955 domestic radio game with its analogous dial, a popular Boac shoulder bag in the 1960s and toys models of mobile houses and caravan trailers.
Also in the trunk there are many black and white photos of people and place tasks in the last 70 years.
The articles come from a hero of reminiscence events in March at Stratford Old Town Hall, which was inaugurated by the Vice -Gallor of Newham, Sarah Ruiz.
“I have followed this project for two years,” said Cllr Ruiz. “It is the best reminiscence project I have seen.”
Charabancs and Cadillacs is the idea of two community transport organizations for Newham and the neighboring Waltham forest that are eager to capture the stories not told “where generations have settled in all corners of the world.”
The goal is to update the memories of life in eastern London since World War II and the trunk is touring Newham.
The project can also be seen on the Charabancsandcadillacs.co.uk website.
