The founder and managing director Sadiq Ahmed spoke with The recorder About opening the new store and what makes Kaani Kaana unique.

“It’s about bringing changes to the industry and improving it: our entire business model is about being better than everyone else in the country.

“We are so focused on the client, to some extent we are obsessed.”
Sadiq founded the company in 2022 after what he felt that it is the lack of progression in the food and Bangladesh food market.
His father used to possess restaurants and conclusions that Sadiq would spend time after school.
After 15 years of working in commercial banks, Sadiq returned to one of his father’s businesses.
He said: “I returned to my father’s place around 2018 and I realized that nothing has changed: the smell was the same, the place looked the same, the menu and the dishes were the same.

“The conclusions had continued with time, while the restaurant sector has continued with time, but I thought we can change this and become a leader of the industry.”
Despite the avant -garde progression of Kaani Kaana, Sadiq confirmed that the classic Indian dishes are left intact, such as the Tikka Masala chicken or the Korma chicken.
He said the company “is proud” of the less known patrimonial dishes of India and Bangladesh.
Sadiq said that Kaani Kaana’s heroany dishes are the most popular (Image: Sadiq Ahmed) “We have tasks that we eat at home, as well as regional dishes of Bangladesh and India, and are some of our most popular.
“It is the way we prepare them, it is a lot of hard work, we go to our local suppliers to choose the fresh meat we want and, if athegh, it requires a lot of effort, we know that quality will be better and that there will be nothing like this.
“Only the other week we change the cut of the lamb that we use in one of our dishes: it costs us 30 percent more, but we know that it is giving a better quality than any other person.”
Sadiq added that Kaani Kaana is “all about the community.”
He confirmed that during the first weeks, the Upminster store would only be open for collection orders, but will sacrifice delivery in the near future.
