The city manager of Northampton, Kevin Nolan, wanted the defender of Charlton Tom McIntyre to be sent in the clash of League one yesterday in the Valley.
The Portsmouth borrower granted a penalty in the first half, converted by Dara Costelloe, after handling the cross of Tariqe Fosu.
Costelloe’s successful shot canceled Luke Berry’s early goal, but McIntyre escaped any card from referee Ollie Yates.
The number 18 of the Matty Godden season obtained maximum points for Charlton.
