Located between the neighborhoods of the Southeast London of Telegraph Hill and Crystal Palace, East Dulwich has a lot to sacrifice, from its strong artistic scene to their places to walk, local cinema and streets full of vintage houses.
But apart from that, this area has been a trial to the left to London, with a train from East Dulwich to London Bridge taking only 13 minutes, while it still feels like a leafy suburb.

For Helen Evans, owner of the popular Eric’s bakery, which recently celebrated being appointed as one of the 50 bakeries in the United Kingdom, East Dulwich was the “perfect” neighborhood to establish a store, due to its “super friendly” atmosphere.

Helen said: “East Dulwich is super friendly: many young families, many children, and I am in a very residential area.”
“There are many young families, good schools and good independent stores too.”
Helen also added that his strong commercial scene in areas such as Lordship Lane, where he can find a mixture of independent and commercial retailers, was a real “active” for the area.

Helen explained: “You have excellent cheeses, butchers, fruit and vegetable stores and independent boutiques. That is something East Dulwich should appreciate, you don’t see it everywhere.”
That feeling of mutual care and familiarity is something resonated by many in the community.
“There is a feeling of real community,” Helen continued. The names of “We are learning customers”, ask how we are, we ask how they are. ”

Alastair Christian, Manager about Planet of the Grapes, echoed Helen’s feelings, describing that the area has a “great sensation of the community.”
This new wine business was inaugurated in East Dulwich last year, and Alastair already says that the business has won a “diverse mixture of customers”, which reflects the vitality of the area.
Alastair said: “I suppose it has a real community sensation, and we are the latest incorporation in a lot of different wine places in the area, which I think is great.”

The growing group of bars, restaurants and independent artisanal stores is a testimony of the evolution identity of the area but founded, welcoming the new companies while proudly dates back.
A retail worker of a nearby florist also pointed out the unique combination of small businesses that attract people.

“It’s mixed. There are many really pleasant independent stores here, and that also attracts people from other areas,” he said. “It is the mixture of stores and things here that I think they do so special.”
The Saturday “popular” market also received a special mention, which “attracts people” to explore the community of independent companies.
In a city often full of business and large -scale commercial restaurants, East Dulwich is an example of one of the prosperous communities in London, where local companies are an integral part of it.
