The accident took place yesterday (April 18) around 8.46 pm, after a police chase in that place of Toks on South Norwood Street.
Patrol officers followed a vehicle that was suspended to show plates of cloned numbers and tried to stop the vehicle on South Norwood street around 8.38 pm
The vehicle did not stop and subsequently crashed with two other vehicles in Wickham Road at the crossroads with Shirley Road.
The scene was attended by the fire teams of the London Fire Brigade and the ambulance equipment of the London ambulance service.
Fire teams worked to free three people who had been trapped in the car and three others were tasks to the hospital.
Police confirmed that a 63 -year -old man, the driver of the persecuted vehicle, died in the place.
The force also confirmed that another person of the six tasks to the hospital is in a life condition.
Two 61 -year -old men who were in the persecuted vehicle were also arrested under suspicion of being transported in a stolen vehicle.
A man was also arrested for being in possession of class A drugs and both men remain in police custody.
The road closures were implemented, while the emergency services were on the scene and since then the deviations have been raised.
The MET Professional Standards Directorate was informed and a derivation was carried out to the Independent Police Behavior Office (IAPC) after the incident.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “At 8:28 p.m., on Friday, April 18, Patrol officers in Croydon asked to follow a vehicle that was suspected that exhibited plates of cloned numbers.
“At 20: 38 hours, in the vicinity of South Norwood High Street, the officers tried to stop the vehicle. He did not stop and left with the officers in pursuit.
“At 8:46 p.m., the vehicle that was being chased with two vehicles driven by other public members in Wickham Road, Croydon near the crossing with Shirley Road.
“Officers cool the initial medical treatment, including CPR, while waiting for the arrival of other emergency services.
“The London ambulance service and the London Fire Brigade attended and treated several people for injuries.
“Despite his best efforts, a 63 -year -old man, the driver of the vehicle who was being persecuted, was declared dead on the scene.
“His closest relative has informed Bant.
“Two passengers in the vehicle that was being persecuted, both 61 -year -old men were arrested under suspicion of being transported in a stolen vehicle. One was also arrested for being in possession of class A. They remain in custody.
