The courts of the former Blackheath Park tennis club have been abandoned during the last 15 years, with the Club House destroyed by fire.
Now, the developer V Funda Escero remake the Padel site, providing eight undercover that would be administered by Padium, which is marketed as a “premium” club.
Padel, a racket sport played on a closed court on a third of the size of a tennis court, is “growing rapidly” in popularity, says the developer.
The existing site is described as “covered with bad and in poor condition.”

This is not the first time he has leg plans to reuse the site, which is adjacent to Blackheath High School Sports Grounds, for a sport other than tennis.
In 2018, permission was granted for the site to become the new home of the Bowls club existing in Blackheath Park.
However, the work never started in the project, since a corresponding application was rejected to rebuild the Bowls club for housing.
Two years ago, a new planning request was presented to create a bowling alley in the old tennis club, but a decision on these proposals has not yet been made.
If the development of the Padel club was given ahead, 17 parking spaces and 20 cycle points would be provisional on the site.
The courts would be open seven days a week, from 6 am to 11 pm
Padium has an existing padel club in Canary Wharf, where the fields for four players can be reserved for £ 80 per hour.
