Former Chief Superintendent Tom Simons was fired this week after a hearing of serious misconduct.
The independent hearing, chaired by police assistant John Murphy of the Bedfordshire Police, was a hero after an investigation carried out by the Independent Police Conduct (IAPC) office.

The IAPC conducted a complete criminal investigation, which resulted in a derivation to the Crown Prosecutor’s Office (CPS) in January 2024.
In June 2024, the CPS decided that no other criminal action would be tasks against the individual.
However, at the hearing of gross misconduct that began on March 31, a panel led by the independent president discovered that Simons had abused his position with a “sexual purpose” with a belief, in addition to participating in the “sexualized behavior.”
The panel also found that Simons had “committed to sexual behavior without consent on one occasion”, and could not reveal their relationship with a belief.
His behavior amounted to serious misconduct, the panel concluded, and was fired without prior notice.
His name was also placed on the Barred Barred list of the Police Faculty, prevention of joining any police force in the United Kingdom in the future.
The audience, which concluded this week, was a private hero to protect the anonymity of the people who had complained about Mr. Simons’s behavior.
However, the president decided to appoint the former officer in the interest of transparency.
The Essex Police welcomed the decision to appoint Mr. Simons.

Essex police chief, Ben-Julian Harrington QPM, said: “There is simply no place in the surveillance of the people who think, erroneously, that they can go out with their own with sexual timulation.
“I give tribute to the witnesses in this case and those who supported them to present themselves.
“I want to praise his courage to be more prominent and trust us to see this through.”
He added: “I will be completely frank.
“This case is particularly disappointing given the antiquity of the former officer.”
Police chief Harrington also thanked the dedication of Essex police detectives who helped gather the evidence along with the OPC.
