Thames Water confirmed that he would carry out emergency repair work in Half Moon Lane in Herne Hill.
This is due to a crack that was found in a main water that runs under the street.
In a statement, Thames Water confirmed that the engineers identified the affected section of the pipe and carried out repair work in the pipeline during the weekend.
The works are expected to conclude on April 20 (Sunday) with the recommended residents to review the Thame Water website to obtain updates.
As a result, Thames Water reported that a temporary traffic management system had installed in the area, with lane closures, temporary traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing to facilitate road safety while the work is underway.
In addition, bus stops in the immediate area have also temporarily suspended over the weekend.
Thames Water advised that they will also carry out some discharge work of the pipes with softened water in the sewers as part of the repair.
The supplier also confirmed that there was no anticipated impact on the client’s water supply.
A statement on the Thames Water website says: “We do not foresee an impact on customer supplies, however, if it is necessary to temporarily remove supply properties to complete the repair, customers will be notified in advance and will be offered support.
“We hope that the work is completed before April 20 and we are working hard to complete this essential work as quickly as possible as possible, and we will continually provide more updates if the situation changes.”
