The president of the United States, Donald Trump, suggested that Buckingham Palace is “establishing an appointment for September” for his second state visit to the United Kingdom.
The president told journalists at the White House on Thursday night: “I was invited by the king and the country, a great country.”
It occurs after Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer handed Trump an invitation letter from King Charles in February, the visit to the door to Washington. Buckingham Palace has not yet confirmed a date for the visit to the State.
Trump was organized by the deceased Queen Elizabeth II duration of her state visit of three days in 2019, which took place duration of her first mandate in office.
Trump was organized by the late Queen Elizabeth II duration of his three -day state visit in 2019, which took place for his first term in office.
Traditionally, the presidents of the United States are not offered a state visit and, on the other hand, they have been invited to tea or lunch with the monarch in Windsor Castle.
The letter of King Charles proposes a meeting to discuss the details of the state visit in Dumfries House or Balmoral, both in Scotland, a country that Trump has connections.
Trump’s mother was born and grew on Lewis’s Hebridian island. This year he plans to open a new golf course in Aberdeenshire, to be named after his mother.
Speaking on Thursday, Trump said: “They are going to make a second, as you know, a second festival … That is what it is: a festival, and it is beautiful, and it is the first time that happens to a person.
“And the reason is that we have two separate terms, and it is an honor … I am a friend of Charles, I have great respect for King Charles and the family, William, we really have great respect for the family.
“And I think they are establishing a date for September.”
Starmer said previously that the invitation for the second visit was “truly historical” and “unprecedented.”
Trump also showed the cameras the content of the king’s letter.
He said: “quite separate from this that presents an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest, it would also be a valuable opportunity to plan a second historical state visit to the United Kingdom.
“As you know, this is not preceded by a president of the United States. That is why it would be useful for discussion, together, a variety of options for the location and program content.
“In doing so, working together, I know that we will even more improve the special relationship between our two countries of which we are both very proud.”
