Activities were organized for their visit to the Aldridge academy of Duke in Tottenham, as part of the program to educate the generation of young people about racism.
The art session was organized by the former soccer coach turned into an artist Emmely Elgersma and was supported by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
“The Premier League has a powerful voice to help educate people,” Ledley said. “It is important that we use our platform as the Premier League club to educate young people to understand how to deal with discrimination.”
Students came up with their own drawings, Ledley’s visit about the idea of educating the generation of young people about diversity in sport.
A student at Tulock Road school asked the football icon if racism had ever prevented him from achieving his goals.
What he had experienced only made it stronger and more determined, he explained. It was his inspiration.
Belvin Lewis of the Foundation of the Spurs, who was appointed the icon of non -racism of the club earlier this season and accompanied Ledley King on the visit, said: “This campaign is close to my heart had grown in this area.
“The students told us what their incredible drawings inspired, that it doesn’t matter where you are or what color are you.”
He said you can make a difference through education, that Tottenham Hotspur was in the community.
The Foundation is running Easter Vacation camps as part of its Premier League Kicks program that has helped tense from thousands of young people over the years.
The program uses sport to inspire young people to reach their potential, in some of the most necessary areas such as Tottenham. It is a way in which the Premier League is encouraging diversity in football.
Ledley King, now 45, spent his entire career with Spurs and played in 323 competitive games from 1999 to 2012.
He also made 21 international appearances for England, scoring twice and representing the country in UEFA Euro in 2004 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
