The long -awaited renewal of one of Glasgow’s best known public spaces has begun.
George Square is scheduled for a 18 -month renewal that has been years in planning.
The first stage of the project will cover the perimeter of George Square with hoarding to allow the work to begin inside.
The panels in the hoarding will be decorated to show the adjustments and the present of the city, in addition to showing the future vision of Glasgow.
The finished project will include a water function, a high grass, protected seat and characteristics lighting. There will also be informal play areas for children.
The transformation of the milestone will continue in May with the elimination of the bronze statues of the square for restoration and storage.
The location will be delivered to the contractors that the main restoration works will begin from the beginning of June.

The current work to improve the condition of the nearby Sauchiehall Street has been making a tentra more time than planned.
Councilor Angus Millar, convening the recovery of the city center at the Glasgow City Council, said the completed project would deliver a civic space of the Glaswegians and Scotland could be proud.
He said: “The Restoration of George Square is a huge and historical project and that so much work has already been dedicated to its planning and design.
“Once completed next year, Glasgow will have a modern square with more vegetation, improved lighting and drainage infrastructure and a high quality stone finish to replace the current asphalt.
“This will be a transcendental month for the city.”
The new George Square will be ready for autumn of 2027, which means that its use will be discarded for the Commonwealth 2026 games.
The financing is being provided through the City Deal program, an infrastructure scheme of £ 1 billion financed by the governments of the United Kingdom and Scottish.
