A Motorcycle Speedway world champion who was involved in a serious accident in Poland last month has said that he is “in repair.”
Tai Woffinden, from Scunthorpe, had been running for his club Rzeszow on March 30 when he was involved in a collision with a teammate.
Woffden suffered multiple fractures and a chest injury and was put in a coma induced by medicine.
In a publication on social networks, he said: “It turns out that my injury and an induced coma is not a joke. I just need a little more time to rest.”
Woffden had recently returned to the sport after suffering a broken elbow in June that ended his 2024 season.
“Know how much I appreciate all the love and support of everyone,” he added, and promised more updates about his condition later in the week.
The athlete is one of the most decorated corridors in the country after winning three World Prix titles in 2013, 2015 and 2018. The second place in 2016 and 2020 also ended.
The 34 -year -old was born in Scunthorpe, the son of Speedway Rob Woffinden’s pilot, but grew in part in Australia before returning to the city to compete for the scorpions of Scunordorpe.
