Two of these beautiful creatures, Nora and Dora, enrolled in the Hill Parliament School for a week, exciting the students.
Nora and Dora are rescue animals that live in Kentish Town City Farm nearby, but they spent time at school doing donkey’s job to raise awareness about animal welfare and sustainable management of the earth.
The school works with the growing beneficial organization of the green environment to improve its open spaces and create habitats for wildlife.
“The donkeys inspired curiosity and the spirit of compassion with our students,” said director Sarah Creaseey. “We value unique learning experiences like this.”
It was the perfect moment with the arrival of Spring to introduce students to these gentle animals and show the benefits of natural grazing.
Animals can help keep landscapes sustainably, instead of using grass cutters, according to school.
The donkeys are intelligent, social and observers, which allows children to appreciate their inquisitive nature.
Claudia Kretzschmar, co -founder of Growing Green, said: “We hope that Nora and Dora will increase the interest of children in nature. Donkeys help biodiversity in school terrain.”
Nora and Dora were busy grazing and trampling the ground, the usual things do the donkeys to help the planet. They suppressed monoculture grass and began the growth of the new biodiverse flowering grass of the school.
The project is part of a program for children in London to see first -hand the recovery of nature in its school shows. Too many urban spaces are covered with concrete, says the growing green. This leads to poor air quality, loss of biodiversity and climatic challenges. The charity converts the thesis overlooked in the spaces in biodiverse habitats.
Nora and Dora were too willing to put their best helmet to help a good cause.
They are the favorites among the visitors of the City Farm in Cressfield Close, outside Graphton Road.
The farm executes a workshop on April 27, from 2 to 4.30 pm, teaching young people about wildlife and the role it plays in the ecosystem. It also has a wildlife adventure path and makes insect houses for Hoverfly lagoons, land houses and bees that are monitored to see what creatures they use.
