The relatives and friends of those who died or were killed in the fire of the city of Bradford were among the multitude of people who in the 40th anniversary commemorative service.
The service took place in Bradford City Fire Memorial Sculpture in Centeny Square at 11:00 BST.
The brass band of the city of Bradford played will never walk alone, before the City Hall bell to play 56 times to mark the number of people who died. A crown was also placed on behalf or King Carlos III.
Bradford Beverley Mullaney said that the service was created to help people “gather to pay tribute.”
She added: “It is important for the city and the district that we take the time to remember those who were affected and those who are continually affected by the tragic events on May 11, 1985.”
The service also included Pastor Canon Oliver Evans, who is the chaplain of Bradford City AFC Club, giving a welcome speech.
And invest Andy Bowerman, Dean of Bradford, a brief reflection also cools.
The interpretation of You Never Walk Alone was chosen due to the association of the song with the tragedy.
A few days after the disaster, a supergroup that includes Gerry Marsden, Rick Wakeman, the Who’s John Entwistle, Phill Lynott, Motorhead and the Nolans joined a series of TV and sports stars in a new version of the Anthem de Terrace classic. It reached number one on the lists and the processes were donated to the families of those affected by the fire.
After the commemorative service ended, the City Council opened for a time for fans and visitors to see a commemorative bell at the top of the civic staircase in the hall.
The bell, which came from the first firefighter truck to reach the scene on May 11, 1985, was donated to the city by the Fire Service and Rescue of West Yorkshire.
Bradford City was playing Lincoln City in his last game at the house of the season when a fire crossed the Parade del Valle stadium with 11000 fans watching.
Fifty -four supporters of the city of Bradford died, along with two travelers Lincoln followers, as well as hurting more than 260.
